Anti-War Up - Be on the streets on Saturday, November 15th!

by redvet <redvet@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Nov 13, 2008 at 01:49 PM

Be on the streets on Saturday, November 15th!
There will be two im****tant actions on Saturday:
8:30am at City Hall against Proposition 8 (organized by AlohaPride)
7:00pm in Waikiki to Sup****t GI Resisters (organized by
WorldCan'tWait)
Information on each follows Sup****t the Troops Who Refuse to Fight!
Stop Military Recruitment NOW! STOP THE WAR!
7pm: March begins from the front of Honolulu Zoo
7:30-8:30pm: Signholding and leafleting
at the corner of Seaside/Kalakaua
November 11 was Veteran's Day. The media has been filled with tributes
to the thousands of GI's who have died and to the tens of thousands
who have been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. But the thousands of
courageous resisters who have refused to fight in these unjust and
immoral wars are the vets who desparately need our sup****t.
Hundreds of GI's have gone to Canada. Thousands have gone AWOL. Many
resisters are speaking out publically against the war. Some are in
jail, and others (like Lt. Ehren Watada) are in limbo. As many as a
third of the veterans who are being recalled under the "Individual
Ready Reserve" policy are refusing to follow orders. Hundreds of
veterans of the Iraq war are now on the streets in active opposition
to the war. These are the troops that need our sup****t!
On Saturday Night we will be hitting the streets of Waikiki to call on
people to sup****t GI resisters. We'll be holding signs, posters with
pictures of resisters, and will be leafleting. Bring your own sign or
banner or pick up one of ours. Join us for the march (on the sidewalk)
from Honolulu Zoo by 7pm. We'll be marching along Kalakaua Avenue to
the corner of Seaside/Kalakaua where we'll hold signs and leaflet for
up to an hour before walking back to the Honolulu Zoo.
PROTEST THE GAY MARRIAGE BAN!
Saturday morning, Nov 15, 8:30 am
Signholding in front of Honolulu Hale (City Hall)
On Saturday, November 15, the LGBTQ community, friends, family, and
sup****ters will be holding protests across the country to speak out
against Proposition 8 and all of the other pro-equality losses in the
recent elections. To find out more about the national protests go to:
Join the Impact. The local protest has been called by The Aloha Pride
Center (APC) which put out a call that read, in part:
"Although Prop. 8 directly affects our California brothers and
sisters, we as citizens of Hawaii will never achieve equal rights
without showing solidarity and refusing to be treated as "second class
citizens" and without equal protection under the Constitution." We
urge you to come out in sup****t. For more information e-mail
