Should Archbishop Ngo Quang Ket Resign?

by Elchinoboatconscience@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Nov 12, 2008 at 01:11 PM

It is about time for Archbishop Ngo Quang Kiet to Resign ?

Archbishop Kiet, probably the most respected Catholic Clergy in
Vietnam and the second highest prelate in the Vietnamese Catholic
Hierarchy created a brouhaha in Vietnam when He pronounced that He
was ashamed when He had to carry a Vietnamese Pass****t when He
travelled abroad .

His pronouncement was delivered at a meeting He had with the
Vietnamese Communist apparatchiks in Hanoi to resolve the Catholic
Church =91s claim to 2 pieces of land confiscated by the VCP after
their Victory in the first Indochina War with the French.

The VCP apparatchiks took advantage of Mr Kiet=92s gaffe to ventilate
the displeasure of many Vietnamese , and not only the Communists=92 or
the Communist Sympathizers=92 , for what they perceived as the Catholic
Clergy=92s attempt to act as a state within a state, disregarding the
power of the Totalitarian state, that most Vietnamese at home, at
least apparently for the time being , acquiesced to.

What is more serious is what Mr Kiet said, which was recorded, is not
interpreted as an insult to the Vietnamese Communists alone but to the
entire Vietnamese Nation. This perception of shame of Mr Kiet was
not shared by many people in the World and in Vietnam because of the
Communist led Victories over 3 of the World Largest powers (France,
USA and China in the 1979 War) during the Wars for Independence ,
Unification and Territorial Integrity , respectively. The Victory of
a Third World underdog against 3 of the most brutal bullies of the
Third World countries of the 5 continents had brought admiration
for Vietnam from literally billions of People in the World. Three
decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union (then already in
complete disrepute because It was nothing more than another Bully),
this admiration is still intact so could not be claimed convincingly
as due to Communist Propaganda

GIVE TO CESAR WHAT BELONG TO CESAR INCLUDING SHAME

But shame, there should be some, which should be the responsibility of
the VC.

Totalitarian rule , ruthless repression of opposition but no massive
violation of Human Rights and mass murders like in Russia under
Stalin, China under Mao, Cambodia under Polpot and North Korea under
the Kim=92s family to cite only countries in the Communist World.

If shame were to be pro****tional to the amount and intensity of
Human Rights Violation, then the record of the Vietkong in this area
is no worse than that of the military cliques of Suharto of Indonesia,
Ferdinand Marcos in the Philippines, Ne Win in Burma and of Ngo Dinh
Diem and Nguyen Van Thieu in South Vietnam.

If Archbishop Kiet were American, He might have to resign like Former
Senator Phil Graham a potential Secretary of the Treasury for the =96if-
elected- Senator McCain when he pronounced that Americans are
whiners who complained too much about the little(!) disturbances in
the US economy .

If Mr Kiet were Americans like Senator Obama or Congressman John
Murtha , he would have to suffer political set back for much milder
pronouncement against a minority of poor white trashes whom Obama and
Murtha characterized as bitter segregationists in rural America.
This clearly is a much milder insult than that of Archbishop Kiet who
said He is ashamed of his citizen****p or identity with the entire
Vietnamese population .

THE REAL REASON FOR WHICH MR KIET WAS ASHAMED.

So let=92s explore what Mr Ngo Quang Kiet meant when he said about his
shame . Could it be that He believed that Vietnamese had such bad
leaders.

But Dear Mr Kiet why then so many leaders of the Free and Civilized
World had treated and Received the Vietnamese Communist Leaders with
respect and some might say admiration for the latter =91s initial
successes in modernization and eradication of poverty in Vietnam.

So what Mr Kiet was really ashamed of was Vietnamese being poor so
that Vietnamese when traveling abroad were scrutinized more as a high
risk as potential illegal immigrants, contrabandists or prostitutes.
Or simply because they do not have enough cash or a return ticket to
make their claim of being genuine tourists credible.

This El Chino Boatman Conscience can assure Mr Kiet that except for
Japanese, South Korean, Taiwanese and Singa****eans most Citizens of
Asian and South Asians countries to which I also include Vietnamese
Boat People holder of the US Pass****t, unless if they were well
dressed, speak good English and having wads of money , would =93enjoy=94
the same level of scrutiny as most holder of the Vietkong=92s Pass****t
who are generally not well dressed, have little money and speak little
English.

So is this poverty of the Vietnamese people and their lack of enjoying
respect the fault of the Vietnamese Communists alone ?. El Chino
can make the case that the lack of respect was the faults of the
entire Vietnamese race , including your own=92s, Mr Kiet , since time
immemorial

This would be the topic for another post, Amen !
